A Pre-Lockdown Ride | Moto Vloggin' | S6E5

Let's see who doesn't read this description (or watch until the end) before furiously tapping out a strongly worded comment about "breaking isolation" and "social distancing" in the comments? I'm waiting! This was filmed, as the titles in the film say, before the UK pseudo-lockdown. I call it a "pseudo-lockdown" because many, myself included, are still allowed to (and indeed won't get any money...

The 2020 Indian Scout Bobber Twenty has split opinion. In the UK we call something like this a "Marmite bike" - you either love it or hate it (based on the decades long marketing for Marmite). Bought one amd love it. Fan of the cafe racer style. Bit on the hands for discomfort and feel like a bear in the Russian circus on a tricycle but thats what you get. Add a few mods and the bike is complete.

    This is sold in the Philippines under brand name "Motorstar' (Model name "Cafe 400") with the exact same engine, chassis, features etc except it's carbureted instead of fuel injected and doesn't have ABS (which is a bit sketchy for new riders, i get that). But get this, it sells brand new for the equivalent of 1,850 GBP. I'm pretty sure fuel injection kits don't cost 2,000 GBP XD. It's a great bike as since the technology used is so old school, a lot of things like fuel filters, spark plugs, and some engine elements are directly swappable with some smaller Kawasaki (Barako) and Honda (CB and late CR models of the past) parts. Stick a good pipe on this thing, upgrade the cam tensioner and tune the carb and valves and I'm safely getting about 8BHP more out of this engine with no major hit in fuel economy too. For the money (especially here in the PH) it's such a good throw-around, all around bike. Handling is also brilliant thanks to it's cruiser style rake angle.

    • @RebelRides

      Yes you can! You need to know the pin code though. Use the indicators to enter the pin straight after turning the bike on. Say the number is 1234 you press left once, right twice, left three times then right four times.

      They've kinda tried to do that with the new Chief range but I'd still like to see them make more use of the engine from the Challenger, as it was blatantly designed for Victory.

    I have owned many Victory bikes over the years. The only change I would make to the list is the Octane at #1 as it is just flat out fun to ride. Every time I ride it I cant help but smile. Second place I would put the Cross Country as it is like riding a cloud. A really anger and power cloud. I have laid down a lot of miles on the Cross Country bikes and keep ending up with one in the garage. I did move up to an Indian Challenger which has more power than the 106 stock. But I personally think the Cross Country rides better and has better seating position.

    • @RebelRides

      I very nearly bought an Octane. Great bike.

  • @MrBlompod

    I had a Jackpot and its handling was so bad it was dangerous. But I'm now probably going to buy a Judge.

    • @RebelRides
      @RebelRides 6 месяцев назад

      Really? I found the 8-ball Vegas to be one of the best handling factory "choppers". The Judge turns more like a standard bike but has less lean angle. The pegs touch down very easily. I'd agree with the Jackpot with the 250 rear tyre, it's even worse to turn than the Hammer.

    • @MrBlompod
      @MrBlompod 6 месяцев назад

      @@RebelRides yeah definitely that big rear tyre and skinny front killed the Jackpots handling. When will parts dry up for them? Is it still worth buying one?

Reliable, comfortable (with a Mustang seat), powerful, and stylish "custom bike" look. I also agree with your #2 choice, the Octane. Love the looks. Although I have never ridden one, I would like to add one to my collection.
